What BTU air conditioner do I need for my room?

• 0–15 m²: A room under 15 m² needs about 9,000 BTU. The CoolBreeze X12 at 12,000 BTU would be oversized — it would cool quickly then cycle off, which leaves the room humid and wastes electricity. (coolbreeze-x9)
• 16–22 m²: A room of 16 to 22 m² is exactly what the CoolBreeze X12 at 12,000 BTU is designed for — a standard bedroom or a small condo living room. (coolbreeze-x12)
• 23–35 m²: A room of 23 to 35 m² needs about 18,000 BTU. The 12,000 BTU model would run continuously without ever quite cooling the room, and the electricity bill would be higher than the correct size. (coolbreeze-x18)
• 36+ m²: Above 35 m² you are looking at 24,000 BTU or more, and for an open-plan space it is usually better to use two smaller units than one very large one.

• Add roughly 10% if the room faces the afternoon sun, has a large window, or is directly under a roof.
• Add roughly 10% for a kitchen, or for a room that regularly holds more than three people.
• Oversizing is a common and expensive mistake: too much BTU cools fast but leaves the air damp.
